In accordance with veterinary law, we are supposed to inform/ask permission of the animal's vet before treating. I've found some vets are open to Reiki but some are non-committal......

Hi Lisa
Thank you for your reply. Will take a look at the book you have recommended.

All the best.

Hello Danielle
Animal Reiki is an area I would like to get into and I have been doing a bit of research (I'm only treating family and friends' pets at the moment so can only give an opinion from that angle currently). I think I would definitely ensure the owner is aware that as I am not a vet they would need to take their pet to the vets with any problems. I would explain clearly on the consent form that I am not there to diagnose but to provide comfort to the animal and hopefully healing on an emotional level. My treatments serving as a complementary addition to any veterinary treatment healing the physical body. A book I found interesting was "Animal Reiki" by Elizabeth Fulton and Kathleen Prasad. I would be interested to know vet viewpoints too.
Hope that's okay as a starter. :o) Lisa

Hello

Please could anyone with experience of providing Reiki to animals advise me on whether I would need to get permission from the animal's vet in the first instance or would the consent of its owner be sufficient?

I would also be intrigued to know what views/opinions you come across from vets about giving Reiki to animals.

Are there any books anyone would recommend in relation to animal reiki?

Many thanks in advance

Danielle
