Hi Karen, likewise, I'm new to TRA and also just got my Reiki level 1 on 1st Nov 2017. I see that you cover Oxfordshire. I am quite surprised to find that there aren't many Reiki Practitioners in Oxfordshire.
Like you I have a space (albiet a shared spare with my other business Photography) in our home and have all my kit portable as well. If you feel like meeting up and chatting about all things Reiki I would be willing to do so.

Thank you for the response.

I was able to connect to Tripuri Dunne and all my questions are answered. I have some direction to start my practice now.

Thank you so much to both of you. :)

Hello again Kashmira. I'm sorry to hear of your difficulty which I am happy to pass on to our webmaster but do always feel free to contact Brian Nolan yourself if you need technical help. Not sure what queries you have for PSN but if you want help with the Verifying or CNHC process, suggest you contact the membership secretary, Tripuri Dunne, as she is also the admin for the process. If ok with you I will alert Council, memsec and Brian to this thread and then you will be very well connected!

You might want to read up about becoming a Verified Practitioner and CNHC registered when the time is right. All the information is under 'CNHC and Reiki practice' on this website. Have you checked out the Reiki share and the Reiki Directory if you are looking to make friends and meet other Reiki practitioners? We are all one big Reiki family so I am sure you will find lots of support from other members. Good luck.

Yes I tried sending in my quesries to the PSN, but after pressing the submit button it gave me some error a number of times. Not sur ewhom to contact for this. Please help.

Oh that's wonderful information. Thanks for also letting me know about the room setup. Nice ideas!

I am based in Hounslow,London. I am new to UK and not aware of the legal stuff much, other than what I googled up. I also do not know many people around. So I needed some help around how the legal stuff works and that I do not miss out on having things in place legally before I start my service.

I know that I will need to have a NI number, then register my business with HMRC for taxes and parallely get an insurance for the service.

Not sure if I am missing out on anything else.

I got the following link (read the - 'Starting up as sole trader' part'):

https://www.simplybusiness.co.uk/knowledge/articles/2016/12/going-self-employed-in-the-UK-a-self-employment-guide-to-get-started/

Possibly this could be useful to others who go through this Forum!

Hey Kashmira lovely to meet you!

I'm actually doing the same thing. I recently completed my Level 2 Reiki, so I've been asking quite a few questions. Luckily I have quite a comprehensive 'Okuden' handbook and notes to go through which advises and guides on such things. Mu Reiki 1 handbook is similar luckily. I've also been lucky enough to connect to lovely Masters through TRA who have imparted snippets of well needed wisdom which helps. Naturally, everyone develops their own style, but some of the basics and and common sense issues are always helpful to discuss.

I have a Reiki specific bed, have set up the room with some photos/art i.e Usui, the symbols, 'just for today' etc, the right ambient lighting, incense/aromatherapy steamer, (royalty free) music. That's still to be worked on - I did the tester session with my partner last night so lots to be done. And now I'm in the process of insurance! Balens is obviously great, it's a block scheme insurer. Not all insurers cover all holistic courses, so there are other options such as Salon Gold, Towergate, BGI, Westminister etc, but alot of research needs doing, so speak to a few about your therapy/accreditation/training etc to make double sure. Forms are another thing! My basic form that I'm working on for clients contains some basic info like this:

Contact details, GP details, any ongoing medical conditions, pregnant, pregnant, injured, maybe a consent clause etc? Very rough version (I'm working on it still). Leaflets/aftercare you can buy from the TRA shop I believe.

Registering businesses etc I did a couple of years ago since I started as a natural skincare company and business consultant. I registered as a limited company through my accountants, so best to ask their advice.

Where are you based?

I'm off to get some lunch now before I continue working, so much to do the joys of being self employed. As I said, since I'm starting relatively new realms too, I know how much there is to do. Best of luck and speak soon!

Much love,

Karen

Hello Karen!

Thank you so much for having this thread. Even I am a newbie. I am planning to start practice in my home. Still working on it. I am finding out what needs to be done as a part of initial setup for the service. Would highly appreciate if any one can please suggest on how to go about starting the service from home.- On things like having a professional insurance, registering business with HMRC and any other steps involved. Thanks. Lots of love to all!!

Hi there! I'm new to TRA today. I haven't noticed a 'newbie intros' thread yet, so I thought I'd have a go starting one. I thought it would be a lovely opportunity for newbies like me to head to one place to say hello - if one already exists, please let me know

I'm in the Buckinghamshire/Oxfordshire area of the UK. I'm setting up a room in our home and am looking forward to conversing and sharing with people from the UK and Worldwide.

So hello!

Karen
