I was advised this too by my Reiki Master, that Reiki 1 was for self and when Reiki 2 was attained then you could work on others.

It is simply that when I was first attuned to Reiki in 1999, my master advised giving treatments to family, friends and during Reiki shares only. I have retained this belief.

I would love to learn why you do not think this is ok? Is it to do with the exchange of energy? I mentioned this to my master, Tripuri Dunne, and she suggested that one way may be for the master to state clearly what the fee is for teaching and then ask that each student offers a set number of hours to the organisation the master supports, in lieu of payment. Once that number of hours has been completed then the work is actually the master's gift to the organisation.

Hello Reiki People, Master-Teacher who has not taught for some time, just on the verge of beginning training of level 1 Reiki to volunteers. How do we feel about volunteers being attuned to level 1 and sent out to give Reiki to groups of people with long-term conditions, who are members of the public? Does the fact that they are volunteers with an organisation, make this ok? I do not think so, but would welcome any thoughts and/or advice on this. Pam |
