The UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre will open in April 2012. This brand new, purpose-built facility will redefine cancer care by putting the needs of patients at the centre of everything we do. Highly specialist staff and trained volunteers will provide care from cancer-specific zones, ensuring that patients have immediate access to the very best treatment, support and advice for their particular type of cancer.
Volunteers will be a key part of the team of staff and healthcare professionals, helping to ensure that each patient, their carers and loved ones receives the very best treatment, information, care and support. Roles range from greeting visitors when they first arrive and guiding them round to providing information and support or complementary therapies.
