Reiki for Children

Hello Rachel
I have treated many children over the years. The main guideline is that if a child is under 16 you must have signed parental consent.. With younger children, it can be a good idea to have Mum/Dad sitting quietly in the room but as they get older say 8 or 9 it might be better to ask Mum/Dad to sit outside as children will often say more if they feel that Mum or Dad aren't listening. of course it is up to you as to how you manage that. Make sure you don't make any claims but simply offer the treatment as a form of support for a child having any form of emotional difficulty or recovering from any form of trauma or upset, however small. Children usually require shorter treatments so allow 15 mins for talking to the parents and half an hour for the treatment for younger children and don't feel phased if you feel they need a break or some distraction at any stage as sometimes they will also talk to you during a five minute break which may be helpful If they are quiet during the whole thing that is fine too, a Reiki treatment is always beneficial and it might be advisable to reassure the parent that if they have any concerns they can get hold of you to discuss further. Hope this helpful Tripuri. |

Hi - I am sure that someone more qualified will pick up your question and give you lots of good advice. I just wanted to respond so that you know people do read these things! And its fun to start a discussion!
This might be a very good subject for one of our PSN days so I will pass it on to the PSN team. What does your own Reiki Master say about it? Personally I would feel it would be appropriate for a parent to remain present during a treatment. Good luck. |
